1. The Case for Traditional Sunglasses: If you are used to wearing sunglasses all the time, or if you spend your days at the beach or on the water, we recommend regular polarized sunglasses. Traditional sun lenses remain at a constant, dark tint (Category 3) and provide the most consistent protection in high-glare environments.
2. The Case for Transitions®: If you don’t typically wear sunglasses all the time and want a “one-pair-does-all” solution, Transitions® lenses (like the new Gen S or XTRActive) are perfect. They are convenient for moving between indoors and outdoors. However, it is important to note that Transitions do not get as dark as regular sun lenses. If you need maximum darkness for extreme sun, a dedicated sunglass lens is your best bet.

For curved, high-wrap frames, material choice is key to comfort and safety:

• Polycarbonate & Trivex: These are the most popular for sports sunglasses because they are virtually shatterproof and lightweight.
• High-Index Plastics: Best for strong prescriptions to ensure the lenses don’t become too thick or heavy at the edges.
