Not sure which safety glasses can accommodate your astigmatism?
Prescription safety glasses come in all shapes and sizes, but not all frames can accommodate all prescriptions. Many people with astigmatism know this all too well and call us wondering which frames will work for them.
The simple answer is that any frame that’s got flat lenses (which includes glasses with side shields as well as many of our glasses in our “Plastic Frames” section which use the arms as side shields) will work with astigmatism. The complicated answer is that some wraparound frames work for some people… some of the time…
But prescription eyeglasses are an exact science, right? Where does the “some” fit into that? Well, there are occasionally people who can’t use a wraparound even though their prescription works in a curved frame. They’re called “wraparound non-adapts,” and they’re uncommon… and unlucky.
Prescription safety glasses with astigmatism are useful for those of us who need to wear safety glasses on the job and either can’t wear contacts or don’t like the fitover glasses which can be clunky and can impede your vision,
If you have worn wraparounds before, we encourage you to get wraparound prescription safety glasses for your astigmatism. They are generally more comfortable and easier to wear.
