Why are motorcycle glasses padded?

Motorcycle enthusiasts are well aware of all the necessary types of protection. And one area comes in the form of motorcycle glasses. Unfortunately, while motorcycle riding glasses can help keep the open road from getting onto your eyes and help protect your eyes from the sun via motorbike sunglasses, they also tend to be padded for various reasons.

Nevertheless, it’s a critical component for motorcycle riding glasses, and we’ll also discuss some options for you.

Safety

You probably guessed the first area motorcycle glasses have padding is for safety reasons. They are there to protect the rider’s eyes from debris, harsh winds, and other hazards encountered while on their bike. For example, take a look at the Bobster Crossover Sunglasses. These motorbike sunglasses come with a detachable foam gasket to add that additional layer of protection on top of the lenses, which are anti-fog and scratch resistant.

The lenses are also shatterproof in case of an accident and provide 100% UV protection. They can also come as a pair of prescription motorcycle glasses.

Comfort

You want to ensure that you’re wearing your motorcycle riding glasses while you’re on your bike. That means with that extra padding, you have a cushion that helps to ensure a snug and proper fit while alleviating pressure points at the same time. An excellent example of this is the Bolle Baxter Sunglasses. They come in an 8-base nylon frame which gives them close to a wrap-around design. Combined with the waterproof foam layering, comfort is all but guaranteed.

The frames are also ANSI Z87+, EN166 rated, and D3 D4 and D5 rated for protection against liquids up to fine dust particles. You also have four styles to choose from.

Type of padding

Not all padding is made the same, which is true for men’s motorcycle glasses. The most popular material is the foam gasket. That’s because it tends to be easy to clean and helps keep the motorcycle glasses light. Of course, they may be prone to tearing easier than a gel or silicone option, but gel and silicone can be heavier and more difficult to replace.

The 7Eye Churada Sunglasses also come with a foam gasket. Any issues with the foam being too warm are eliminated as they come with filtering air vents that help with air circulation and reduce fogging. In addition, the lenses provide 100% UVA and UVB protection. These also come in four styles.

How they fit

A proper fit means they always stay on and cover the sensitive areas much better. Padding only helps to secure the fit better and keep them on without moving from too much movement or wind or slipping off due to the heat while riding. The Wiley X Gravity with RX Rim helps showcase a great fit. The included adjustable strap exemplifies this so you can get these motorcycle glasses on tight.

They also come in a wrap-around design to help with that snug fit. Protection is no problem with ANSI Z87.1 ratings and 100% UVA and UVB protection. These come in matte black.

Style

Of course, you want to look good wearing your motorcycle riding glasses as part of the whole outfit. The JY7 Prescription Safety Goggles are a great wrap-around design to fit properly and adjust the size with the strap. The foam padding only helps with protection and comfort, and the goggles come with ANSI Z87-2+ safety ratings. They are extremely lightweight and are a great option for those considering motorcycle goggles over glasses. They come in black.
