When you order Costa optical frames through RX-Safety, we can fit them with several lens options, depending on your prescription and visual needs.
Single Vision Lenses
Single vision lenses correct one focal distance, either far or near. Digital Single Vision lenses use freeform surfacing technology to optimize the optical center across the entire lens, providing sharper peripheral vision and edge-to-edge clarity than conventional single vision lenses.
For active use or wider frames, digital single vision is the better choice.
FT-28 Bifocal Lenses
Also called flat-top bifocals, FT-28 bifocal lenses provide two distinct optical zones separated by a visible line, providing distance correction in the upper portion and a 28mm near segment in the lower. They’re durable, straightforward, and a practical choice for people who have difficulty adapting to progressive lenses.
Seamless Progressive Lenses
Seamless progressive lenses provide distance, intermediate, and near correction with no visible dividing line. Modern digital progressives offer wide viewing corridors and fit into active lifestyles. They’re a popular choice for Costa optical frames used in both outdoor and everyday settings.
Lens Materials
The best lens material varies by application:
- Polycarbonate is lightweight and impact-resistant, making it a practical default for sports frames.
- CR-39 plastic offers excellent optical clarity for mild to moderate prescriptions.
- Glass provides superior scratch resistance and optical clarity but is heavier and more fragile.
- High-index (available in 1.67 and 1.74 indices) produces thinner, lighter lenses for stronger prescriptions.
