Consider your lens material

Rx Safety offers a variety of lenses to meet the needs of individuals using prescription safety glasses. We provide polycarbonate, trivex, and high index lenses. When selecting safety lens material, it is crucial to think about your work conditions, environment and needs. To help you, we’ve broken them down below, along with a few insights.

Polycarbonate Safety Lenses

Polycarbonate safety lenses are the most popular choice for safety glasses with prescription They are known for their high impact resistance and incredibly lightweight features, especially when compared to standard plastic and real glass lenses. Some good polycarbonate lens features are affordable prices, meet ANSI Z87+ High-Velocity Standards, are UV protective, and come in many different lens options.

Trivex Safety Lenses

Trivex has similar qualities with polycarbonate lenses like weight, durability, and UV protection. The trivex lenses differ in that they offer superior optical quality with less distortion and a crisper lens over polycarbonate lenses.  They also provide excellent scratch resistance and meet ANSI Z87+ High-Velocity standards. Trivex safety lenses are available in all of the Transition, Polarized, and safety sunglass lens options.

High index safety lenses

High index safety lenses are ideal for people that have high prescriptionsThese lenses have a higher index than the other lens materials, allowing us to accommodate higher prescriptions without extra-thick lenses. We recommend high index lenses only for people with prescriptions that are over +/- 4.00.

These lenses meet the ANSI Z87.1 Safety Standards and come in fewer lens options than other materials. If you choose high index lenses, we recommend adding an anti-reflective coating for better performance.

Safety Lens Colors

Lens colors can take your prescription safety glasses to the next level. At Rx Safety, we have nearly twenty lens colors for your prescription safety glasses. Each color can have a different purpose, being style, or work environment needs.

If you’re working outdoors, you might want to consider having polarized lenses or a darker sunglass tint to help protect your eyes from the sun’s ultraviolet rays. These lenses will help you reduce glare and help with eye fatigue from the sun.

Transition Branded lenses are light-adjusting lenses that are perfect for people that work both indoors and outdoors. Transition lenses are clear indoors and turn dark outdoors in the sun, providing indoor and outdoor protection by blocking UVA, UVB, and blue light.   In most lens materials, transition lenses come in gray and brown in the Transition Signature Series, Xtractive, vantage, and Drivewear.

Lastly, we also carry comfort safety tints for working in different lighting situations.  Whether orange, yellow, pink, and blue blocker, these lenses help reduce eye strain and fatigue.

Lens Coatings

We know that every prescription safety glasses should be unique to your needs. RX Safety offers solutions for you while offering the highest quality safety glasses available in the market today.  We also understand that personal style should meet your safety needs.   We offer a wide selection of lens coating. Whether it’s coating your lenses for a particular need like anti-reflective coating or a mirror coating for a fashion statement, we have many solutions for your unique eyewear needs. Let’s discuss the options offered with Rx Safety.

AR (Anti-Reflective) Coating The anti-reflective coating reduces the glare from light reflecting from your surroundings whether you are driving at night or working at your computers for long hours.

Scratch Coating – A scratch coating adds an extra level of protection to your lenses. Scratch coating is a second layer that we apply to your lenses that will help protect your lenses from scratching.

UV (Ultra-Violet) Protection Coating – UV coating provides an extra layer of protection against the harmful UVA, UVB, and UVC light. While some lenses may already offer a layer of UV protection, adding this coating will ensure you are fully protected, especially if you’re working outdoors.

Anti-Fog Coating– Rx-Safety’s Permanent Anti-fog technology will combat water molecules from gripping together and causing your lenses to get foggy.  This technology will last the lifetime of your lenses. The permanent anti-fog coating is perfect for people that work in humid conditions, go in and out of air conditioning, or wear a face mask as a part of their daily routine.

Mirror Coating– While mirror coatings are mainly used today as a fashion statement, they offer some benefits that we can’t overlook.  Mirror coating works to help significantly reduce glare and eyestrain, especially while working on the water. We highly recommend mirror-coated lenses for activities like fishing, boating, sailing, golf, skiing, snowboarding, and surfing.  We offer a variety of mirror coating colors including silver, gold, blue, green, and red.
