Most of us have met someone who wears Transitions or some other brand of photochromic lenses that turn dark in direct sunlight and clear indoors. These “eyeglasses that turn into sunglasses” are a great choice for all-purpose glasses.

• Transitions brand lenses come in many styles, and we carry all of them.
• Standard Transitions Brown and Transitions Gray lenses turn brown or gray (respectively) in the sunlight and clear indoors. They do not darken behind the windshield of a car. These do not get as dark in very hot conditions.
• Transitions XTRActive lenses are the darkest of the Transitions line. They turn very dark in the sunlight and change even in hot weather or behind the windshield of a car. They also have a “hint of a tint” indoors, so their clearest state is very slightly tinted.
• Transitions Vantage lenses are similar to standard Transitions except that, in addition to darkening, they also polarize in the presence of sunlight and glare. They do not darken behind the windshield of a car or become as effective in hot temperatures.
• Transitions Drivewear is a great choice for daytime glasses. They are green in overcast light and dark rust in bright sunlight, and they change behind the windshield of a car. These, however, are the only Transitions that aren’t app ropriate for indoor or nighttime conditions, as they always stay fairly tinted. They are also polarized.
